That’s right! You are not alone. That is, if you were disappointed by the Indian Jones sequel, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. And guess what … star of the movie, Shia LaBeouf, felt the same way, reports MTV News.
Last week at the Cannes Film Festival, LaBeouf made his opinion on the movie very clear.
“I feel like I dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished,” LaBeouf said. “You get to monkey-swinging and things like that and you can blame it on the writer and you can blame it on Steven [Spielberg, director]. But the actor’s job is to make it come alive and make it work, and I couldn’t do it. So that’s my fault. Simple.”
But the star was not just concentrated and concerned about himself. LaBeouf is aware of the perception that’s out there and he shows respect for the audience.
“I think the audience is pretty intelligent. I think they know when you’ve made [crap],” LaBeouf said. “And I think if you don’t acknowledge it, then why do they trust you the next time you’re promoting a movie?”
This unusual display of honesty in an industry typically driven by studios and publicists is quite nice. But there is always the down side for speaking out.
“I’ll probably get a call,” LaBeouf said. “But [Spielberg] needs to hear this. I love him. I love Steven … And I would never disrespect the man … But when you drop the ball you drop the ball.”
